Griffiths became convinced that company-wide Flawless Execution? training was the answer he was looking for. What he needed was a process to improve execution and help to promote greater teamwork between management teams at its manufacturing facilities. According to Mr. Griffiths, "Champion's strategy is sound; however, we noticed a gap between strategy and action. For that reason, we teamed with Afterburner to close that gap between planning and execution."
Champion Enterprises, Inc., a Michigan-based leader in factory-built construction, operates 31 manufacturing facilities in the U.S., Western Canada, and the United Kingdom. The company recognized the need to plan and execute more effectively and chose to team with Afterburner to provide tailored training to aid them in their drive to focus on leadership, teamwork, and improving execution.
Afterburner has completed six three-day sessions, teaching "Flawless Execution" methodologies to Champion leadership teams in North America. Born from fighter aviation, Flawless Execution is a continuous improvement process that incorporates four steps: Planning, Briefing, Executing, and Debriefing. In the Afterburner workshop, attendees are first taught to use the process in military exercises and ultimately to apply it to objectives in their own businesses. Jeffrey Nugent, Champion's Vice President, Human Resources, is encouraged by management's response to the training and believes that "this is clearly a process that will help us in the future."
